Mickey Axelband, D.V.M.

Dr. Mickey Axelband was born and raised in The Bronx, New York. Dr. Axelband has practiced veterinary medicine in South Florida for 35 years as a former owner of multiple veterinary practices in Broward and Palm Beach Counties.

Dr. Axelband received his undergraduate degree from the University of Delaware. After Delaware, he attended veterinary school in Italy where he learned to speak Italian while traveling throughout Europe. During his time studying abroad, he learned of Ross University, a new vet school getting ready to open. Dr. Axelband transferred into Ross University and became the very first graduate of the veterinary school.

Dr. Axelband has been a consultant and speaker for several pharmaceutical companies. He appeared in a weekly “Ask The Vet” TV segment for two years and served as a regular on-air veterinary consultant for several ABC News stations in Florida.

Dr. Axelband sits on the board of Dezzy’s Second Chance Animal Rescue, a nonprofit organization dedicated to saving the lives of dogs in South Florida. Away from work he enjoys spending time with his wife, their 6 dogs, adventure travel, attending baseball games and flying airplanes.
